Position Summary
The Food Technologist – Seasoning & Flavor Development is responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing dry seasoning and flavor blends for a wide range of food applications. This role blends culinary creativity with food science to deliver consistent, high-quality flavor systems that meet customer, regulatory, and operational requirements.
This position supports the Research & Development team through hands-on formulation, sensory evaluation, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, innovative, and passionate about creating scalable, high-performing flavor systems.
What You Will Do
- Develop, revise, and duplicate seasoning and flavor blends to meet sensory, functional, cost, and regulatory standards
- Evaluate and select raw materials for product formulations
- Conduct sensory evaluations and analytical testing to guide formulation decisions
- Prepare and test seasonings in final product applications
- Generate ingredient statements and nutritional information using Genesis software
- Enter project data into Salesforce and formulation data into Genesis
- Prepare specifications and coordinate sample shipments to customers
- Collaborate with Quality, Operations, suppliers, and customers throughout development
- Participate in innovation and product brainstorming sessions
- Assist Quality with production retains and investigations as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with company procedures
- Support special projects and initiatives as assigned
What You Will Bring
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
- Knowledge of flavor systems, raw materials, and food processing
- Understanding of regulatory and labeling requirements (21 CFR Part 101)
- Experience with Organic, Non-GMO, Vegan, Keto, and specialty formulations is a plus
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Culinary Arts, or a related scientific discipline (preferred)
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in product development or R&D
- Proven experience developing, duplicating, and improving flavor formulations
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities

- Standing for more than 50% of the workday
- Sitting for computer-based tasks as needed
- Frequent typing and use of hands and fingers
- Movement within R&D labs and storage areas
- Operation of laboratory equipment and mixers
- Frequent lifting up to 5 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to observe details at close range
- Ability to communicate information clearly and accurately
